Highlights About Stoves
Originally a manufacturer of sheet metal, the owners recognised that a revolution was happening in British kitchens, with a move away from tiny sculleries to kitchens as we think of them today, and a growing interest in the art of cookery.
They say the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, perhaps this is why Stoves was founded on Valentine’s Day 1920. Throughout the 1920s and early ’30s Stoves developed a reputation for manufacturing excellence, producing oil powered stoves and a range of camping stoves which remain popular with collectors today. By 1937 Stoves Ltd had developed an extensive range of cookers and was exhibiting at the British Industries Fair, one of the most important exhibition centres in the UK, which for two weeks every year was the most visited attraction in the country. Year by year, decade by decade, Stoves grew bigger and was finding new ways to innovate the kitchens of not only Britain, but also Europe. Always focused on improvement, parent company GDHA invested £2million into its newest, British-made Range Cookers between 2016 to 2018. The investment in the 26-acre Rainhill manufacturing site ensured the introduction of several new added-value features including one-piece, tempered Uni-cast™ steel frames on all Deluxe Range Cookers. 2018 sees Stoves leading the way in Deluxe Range Cooker innovation once again, introducing the first Deluxe Range Cooker with Bluetooth® connectivity; elevated Panglide™ pan supports, Pro-Trac™ double extension telescopic sliders, advanced touch-slide induction precision control knobs and the Quad Oven Proflex™ Cavity Splitter, which transforms the 900mm three oven Deluxe Range Cooker into four ovens.
Stoves’ love affair with cooking started on Valentine’s Day 1920 and almost 100 years later, it’s still going strong.
